Fashion Your Happy Life

Brian York is proud to be a big kid who never grew up. He truly is 14 forever. Born in small-town Indiana, Brian’s mother Gloria, enrolled him in a tap class at age two and he’s been dancing ever since. From his first dance recital, Brian loved being on stage and after seeing Katherine Hepburn’s performance of COCO in the musical based on the life of Coco Chanel, he was hooked on Broadway and fashion.
Brian’s desire to travel took flight at age nine when he became pen pals with a girl in the UK. At twelve he ventured alone on his first flight traveling to Arizona for a vacation with family friends. His love of international travel grew as an exchange student in Munich, Germany, where he accompanied his host father on business trips to Northern Italy. Ironically, Brian now works for an Italian company and often travels to many of the same places he visited as a teenager.
Brian completed professional actor training earning a BFA in musical theater at the Conservatory of Arts at Webster University. At the time, the school offered the only undergraduate program in residence with a professional Actors Equity company, the Repertory Theater of St. Louis. After moving to New York, Brian became involved with Creative Alternatives of New York (CANY), a theater organization which hires professional actors to build community in homeless shelters, hospitals, schools and group homes. The organization was founded and endowed by Mrs. Gustave (Janet) Levy and included actress Susan Sarandon among its Board members. Brian served as Executive Director from 1992 to 1998.
In 1999 Brian transitioned to a career creating and producing events. Brian joined MIM, Meetings & Events, a global agency, founded by Judy Tenenbaum, and over the next decade worked on every continent except Antarctica. After supporting clients in a variety of industries, in 2012 Brian followed his dream to focus on the fashion industry. Since that time Brian has served as Director of Events for an Italian leader in fashion accessories with some of the most prestigious house and licensed brands. In this position Brian’s theater experience, interest in fashion and love for travel converged into the perfect trifecta of his passions.
